If you have visited the Barn since we re-opened the downstairs museum and gift shop a few weeks ago, you probably noticed our plentiful supply of masks, gloves and bottled hand sanitizer. Our storeroom is well-stocked with cleaning supplies. Visitors are also greeted by professionally-made signs that state our Covid-19 hygiene protocol.
We are so grateful to the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, which awarded us a $1,000 grant to help pay for these items.
Upon re-opening, we found a need for masks among our visitors and are dispensing them every day to keep everyone safe, especially our senior citizen volunteer corps. We are grateful to the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries for subsidizing our mask supply so that we may continue to help contain the pandemic.
The grant is part of the CARES Act, a U.S. government initiative designed to help businesses and nonprofits stay open and re-open as safely as possible. Please know that the Arcadia Historical and Preservation Society board and volunteers are doing everything we can to make your visit to the Round Barn safe and enjoyable.
