Talk of the Town Orchestra Brings Big Band Swing to the Arcadia Round Barn

ARCADIA, OKLAHOMA — Get ready to swing into the Labor Day weekend as Talk of the Town Orchestra brings the exciting sound of the Big Band era to the historic Arcadia Round Barn on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Based in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, Talk of the Town Orchestra is a premier Big Band ensemble dedicated to keeping the vibrant music of the “Golden Era of Big Bands” alive. Formed in 1988 by volunteers from the University of Oklahoma community, the orchestra has spent nearly four decades entertaining audiences with the timeless sounds of swing, jazz, and classic Big Band music.

Led by director Mike Darrah, the ensemble features some of the region’s most talented and highly trained musicians and vocalists. With a deep roster of experienced performers, many holding advanced music degrees and decades of professional experience, Talk of the Town Orchestra delivers the rich, energetic sound that made the Big Band era one of the most popular periods in American music.

The orchestra is well known throughout central Oklahoma, performing at major community events, swing dances, retirement communities, hospitals, and civic organizations. Their Labor Day appearance at the Arcadia Round Barn has become a favorite opportunity for audiences to enjoy the excitement and nostalgia of live Big Band music in one of Oklahoma’s most unique historic settings.

Bring a chair, invite your friends, and enjoy an afternoon of BIG BAND SWING at the Arcadia Round Barn!
